Celtx Shots App Reviews

SOOOOOO many bugs. In the middle of my SB i couldnt add more pics. The button just didnt work. I reinstalled the app, and it happend again! 2 Hours of work and i got NOTHING. Yeah very professional.

ability to import script from celtx script would be really good. So i don’t hve to copy paste Scene numbers

The app freezes all the time when trying to move characters or other items around in sketch mode. It is very not intuitive. Terrible.

Can’t select characters, crushes, terrible. Where is the desktop version? You replaced a quite good desktop version with the worst app store version ever made! I am leaving Celtx this is totally urespectful and shows how you don’t care about your customer.

All you can do with this program, drawing wise, is basically move around simple clip arts, draw circles, squares and lines. The images you see above as examples are just PNGs, it’s impossible to make images like those in the actual program. There are many free programs better, and I feel robbed.

You cannot actually sketch anything you can only add the artwork that celtx has. Not even basic draw tools very poor program wish I could return it!

Is it a great program? Nope. Is it kind of buggy? Yep. Does it save time and look great? Yep! I really hate how there arent many options to change anything. Re-sizing things are a pain. You cant copy a sketch or even a shot so that you can paste it later in the sequence (like in a back and forth dialogue). I wish that adding text to things werent such a pain. Also, there is no way to really share the darn thing outside of printing a PDF, which is fine, but I mean, when I go to the export menu, there is only one shaded out option (Export as a movie). Also, who the heck wants to share a storyboard as a movie? Theres a myriad of problems (or additional features) that should have came with the program. Its really a: Heres a bunch of blank things, put stuff on it, and move it around. If Powerpoint had a better library of characters and props, itd probably be even better. Oh yeah, you cant change the angle on any of the props…so you have to be creative. Anyways, its worth the 20 bucks, but definitely not a single penny more. In fact, maybe its only worth $19.99. And Im being nice about it.

Horrifyingly unstable. Locks up after I added about a dozen shots. Horrible editing. No drag and drop. No multiple images for Montage simulation. No obvious way to delete an unwanted storyboard… I suppose it will be there forever or so unintuitive that I can’t figure it out. Can’t even figure out how to rename an existing storyboard. No “simple static shot” of a document in the shots list. WON;t import common graphic file formats. No way to add custom shots. No way to expand the text section for easier viewing. NO obvious way to get the database of file… where is this file kept???????? No way to add new items in the sketch list. Absolutely one of the worst Apple programs I have ever used.

I wouldn’t even consider this app worthy of being in Beta stage. Locked up constantly. Wouldn’t allow me to print or export. Doesn’t allow you to easily recorder scenes and shots. Spent more time communicating with tech support than I did creating a storyboard. I love their screenwriting tool so this was a major disappointment.

Iv been directing short stories with just a shotlist. Now I’m moving on to feature films and I don’t have the time nor money at the moment to hire a storyboard artist. This software has everything a non storyboard artist needs to convey the directors vision.

This is pretty good, it didnt screw up or anything, no bugs. BUT its very simple. It would be amazing if you added a feature for *ACTUAL* sketching inside the program, perhaps in just black and white--very simple. Also some headings would be nice: scene, panel, page, slugging, action notes and dialogue to name a few. A feature for panning would also be brilliant. And last, but far from least: a way to play it, like as an animatic and not just click throught the pages. Its just missing a lot of things, thats all. (a lot of important things)
